They shoot fast and can leap without warning. Hooboy, do NOT use the combat shotgun on them unless you absolutely can't face them from a distance. Tentacle Commandos though, are easily cannon fodder thanks to this thing. Though I would use that as more of a last resort than a typical tactic. It's even possible, though tricky, to kill Chaingun Commandos this way. Even with ZSecs, considering it takes them a second or two to shoot once they get Line of Sight on you. So, basically, if it's not a Bruiser, Vulgar, or one of the bosses, it's a suitable target. The reload time isn't that bad, considering whatever you shot probably just died. Really, aside from the vulgar problem, the only drawback is that it sucks up shells too quickly to just use it on everything. But for that, you have to get in close enough that you pretty much only want to attempt it when they're spawning/lightning-ing in, because then it takes them a second or two to attack you. It can actually kill an Arch Vile in ONE shot. It hits harder than the Rocket Launcher, at least at point blank range. In both RoE and Lost Mission, you'll get it before facing a single cherub, rendering them harmless in these campaigns.Īh yes, this thing. I don't use it much for flinging enemy projectiles back at them, but it works very well for insta-killing Forgotten Ones, and, more importantly Cherubs. You get it almost immediately in RoE, in Lost Mission, it's somewhat into the game before you do. Always keep a save from before your last use, for this exact reason. Only ever let it happen if there are both health stations and armor power ups nearby.Īlso, you can't rely on it recharging like you could with the Soul Cube, so be more careful and look for recharges. This makes getting damaged even less acceptable than it is in the normal Doom 3 and Lost Mission Campaigns.
